[Kenwood] TS 120S ALC / IC meter problem

Good day all.

I have a problem with the ALC / IC function on my TS 120S. The 'S' meter functions as it should, but I get no reading ro the meter when transmitting. I have cleaned the switch with tuner cleaner to no avail. 
Does anybody have any suggestions? I have heard this is not an uncommon problem wih this model. I really need it to function so I can run PSK 31 again.
