Kenwood serial number decoder
XYYZZZZZ
X-2 = last digit of the year
YY = Production Month
ZZZZZ = sequence in production for that monthIf this decoder is accurate,
then your radio was made in January of 1988 and was the 19th unit made that
month.Mine is 9080049, and is considered a late model. The decoder indicates
manufacture date of August, 1987 and was the 49th made that month.However, I
have heard of 10 and 20 million range serial numbers and don't know how they
fit in the decoder. Perhaps they were made in 1989 and 1990.
