Dear List Members:

I still like my TM-241A for 2 meter FM. I would appreciate your help
in diagnosing my latest problem with it.

I successfully installed the "battery mod" that replaces the
soldered-in battery with a removable battery. That works (or worked)
fine. Then I noticed that the push buttons on the front panel
(Function, shift, tone, etc.) were staying in and not releasing when
the button is pressed. I removed the front panel and found that the
foam that was used to put pressure on the pushbuttons had
deteriorated, so I tried to replace some of it. When I put the radio
back together, the buttons worked, but the radio seems to have gone
into a "frozen" state.

The display shows: 1- (to the left of the frequency readout), then
4.000 in the frequency readout, and then *C in the channel space on
the right. I cannot change anything; as I turn a knob or press a
button, all I get back is the "beep." I've tried to reset the
processor using the instructions in the manual, I have removed the
battery and then replaced it. I've tried a power on reset with any
button combination I could think of, but it still does not change.

I hope someone out there reading this will have some ideas on what
the problem is and how to fix it. I've found these forums provide a
great wealth of knowledge.

Thanks for your help.
73,
Bruce
