The TS-2000 allows you to load a custom DSP filter that could be used to 
extend the TX audio.  Take a look at:

What he's done is not really a "mod," but rather creation of a DSP filter 
that can be used or not.

You might also want to join both the KenwoodTS-2000 and the adjust_ts2000 
Yahoo groups and search their archives for essb, extended audio etc and to 
post this same question on those reflectors.

I have both the TS-480HX and the TS-2000.  I like them both and would not 
give up either of them.  It's true the TS-2000 is very versatile, plus it 
would allow you to extend the audio range a bit.  But it depends on how much 
high fidelity you want.  You can only extend the TS-2000's audio so much, 
and I've read others have been able to extend certain ICOM rigs even 
further.

ESSB is not an area of interest to me, but my impression is that most hams 
who get into that are fairly careful where and when they transmit and don't 
cause interference to others when the bands are crowded.  There are many 
bands or band segments with "open space" right now, so usually ESSBers do no 
harm.

I personally love to use PSK31, partly because it takes so little 
bandwidth....

Hi list. I have the kenwood 480 SAT and like it very much. I would also like 
to get the kenwood 2000 to see if I could get even warmer audio on transmit 
since the 480 on transmit is 2.4 wide but the 2000's audio is 3 KC. I also 
like the fact that the 2000 is a total shack in the box for both HF and VHF. 
The rig I'm currently using for VHF is the yaesu 736R. A nice rig but a bit 
large. I use the W4IHY eight band EQ for the transmit audio on the 480 witch 
does help but doesn't add much on the low end. I think this is because the 
480's band width isn't wide enough to pass anything below about 300 cycles. 
Would the W4IHY EQ work better with the 2000 since its transmit audio is 
wider? or would that 600 KC not make much difference. Also. Would I be 
giving up anything as far as receive compared to the 480's receive on HF or 
the 2 meters receive on the yaesu 736R? The 2000 is also less blind user 
friendly compared to the 480 since the voice board in the 480 gives more 
detail about me
 nus and such. I could still learn to use it however and that being the 
case, I would still like this rig. HRo has it on sail until the end of the 
year. If any of you out there have had experience with all three rigs I
