[Kenwood] 950 SDX Front panel locks

I have a 950sdx and the keys on the front panel have started locking up. 
The keys will allow me to push once on a set (FUNCTION, TX VFO/SUB, BAND 
KEY, MEMORY or MODE) and then the keys lock up. The METER keys work fine 
as does the FILTER KEYS.  I have also noticed that the AIP light stays on.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can someone give me some guidance?
