[Kenwood] TS950SDX gone dead

After a check for hum on the audio my TS950SDX has gone dead. The power supply works, and so do the fans and all lights, but the TS can't receive nor transmit. The S-meter peaks the scale, and the sound level is low regardless the position of the RF control.
The problem is possibly due to a short circuit during the check when I removed the subchassis and unplugged the two connectors, RX ANT OUT terminal (3) and DRIVE IN terminal (4). With power on, the drive in terminal connector happened to touch the rear panel for a few seconds, immediately producing a light smoke and a hissing sound behind the left side of the front panel, possibly from the SIGNAL UNIT board. When the two connectors were replugged, and power was switched on again, the TS had gone dead, and the smoke had disappeared.
So far no burnt resistor, capacitor or chip has been found. Resetting the microprocessor has given no result.
Any clue?
Thanks a lot.
