[Kenwood] TS-530SP IF Alignment Question

Hi Bill.

In addition to the instructions of step #12, tune the VFO so you get 
an approx. 1 kHz beat note from the 530's speaker output. Then tune 
those xfmrs for maximum audio output of the 1 kHz tone. Make sure the 
AGC is switched off, and keep the RF input level down to a moderately 
weak signal. This is the best way to find a peak as you adjust the 
xfmrs. If you're using an AF VTVM or oscilloscope to measure the 
audio output, it will likely be able to indicate small changes in 
output level that you may not be able to notice by ear.

If you really are not seeing any peak at all, then something seems 
wrong. What is the sensitivity of the receiver in its present 
condtion? Can it hear a CW signal reasonbly well at 0.5 microvolt or 
not?
