[Kenwood] TS-830S S-Meter Lacks Sensitivity ?

Bill,

Have you peaked the Drive control for maximum background noise when 
receiving on each band? Does it correspond to the peak drive position 
on transmit?

Have you tried an antenna tuner on receive? This can sometimes make a 
big difference in received signal strength, depending on the antenna.

Can you compare performance side-by-side with another receiver and 
the same antenna?

It's possible that the 830's front end (RF and/or mixer stages) may 
be a bit out of alignment on some bands. But check the simple things 
above first.
