[Kenwood] slightly OT: OSI on APRS?

Hi Rick,

Can't talk about the Oregon Scientific, but I've been using the Peet Bros. 
wx station for years. I believe the bros. are hams, and their literature 
discusses interfacing with various types of ham setups, and they market 
various lead-in filters specifically designed to avoid signal interferance 
from ham stations; but even though my original plan was to put a talking, 
remotely triggered wx beacon on vhf, I never got "a round tuit" - gotta get 
one of those..... so far I just collect the data on a PC via serial 
interface.

I can say that they were very responsive when I had repeated problems with 
the PRO rain guage (it works by actually sensing calibrated drops of rain 
making contact with 2 pairs of gold-plated sensors),  but  I think the 
design concept is flawed, and in the end my solution was to just buy their 
tipping-bucket rain guage, which has the same resolution and seems to be 
more reliable. Other than that, I've been very happy with the product and 
the support.

The usual no-business-relations caveats apply.

With the bout of severe weather we are getting in CA (strong winds, blizzard
conditions, a week+ of precip forecast with 7-10 FEET of snow over the
weekend), I was once again pondering the purchase of a weather station
(Oregon Scientific WMR968 Plus [$249 @ Costco]).



Has anyone used this station (it's on 433 MHz., boo, but is solar powered,
yea!)?  How about on APRS?  And yes, does it work well with the '710?
