[Kenwood] Kenwood TS180 opinions wanted

John, I bought a TS-180S new and loved it. Only knock was the small knob
you had to turn to reduce power to adjust your tuner or drive an amp. The
SWR protection circuit was not a "foldback" circuit which gradually reduced
power -- if you got over about 2:1 it just shut down. It was touchy.
The TS-180S has a great receiver. I used to work 2 meter EME and used it
with a 2 meter receive converter and it was the best by far that I used in
that department. I always got reports of great audio on SSB and worked a
lot of cw with it. I still have the matching speaker. The original unit
did not have the "WARC" bands but they offered a kit to put them in, I
believe. It was a good solid radio that I am glad I owned.
