[Kenwood] TM-V71A Odd-Split Question

Can I set up the V71A to transmit UHF & Rx VHF, the kicker here is I do not want to Rx VHF while Txing UHF.  I have my home base in half duplex cross band repeat mode so I can get into a repeater I am unable to while mobile.  I have set my mobile V71A to Tx UHF simples, but I have not figured out how to mute the VHF while I Tx UHF.
