[Kenwood] TS-820 vfo

Paul,

I stand CORRECTED!  I pulled my VFO from the shelf.  I removed the top 
cover, and on the right side of the enclosed assembly are two screws 
holding a small side panel to the enclosure.  It is INDEED an air 
variable capacitor!  (Curiosity got the best of me!) LOL

There is a spring on the rear for maintaining contact.

You may very well have to either go in and burnish the contact, OR try 
Deoxit.
