[Kenwood] TS-440SAT Displays Dots

My TS440SAT displayed dots on the 24MHZ and 28MHz bands soon after I began using it after buying it. I got SB-974 and SB-973 and started in on SB-974. The diodes were operating properly so there was nothing to replace. I'm a bit leery of attempting SB-973 which requires picking off rubber pieces etc.

When I returned the rig to operation - nothing had changed - but soon after I discovered the problem has spread to the 18MHz and 21Mhz bands.

Two questions:

1.    Has anyone got a list of archived posts dealing with this issue in the 440SAT? I looked thru all of 2007.

2.    Are there any ex-Kenwood techs out there willing to fix it for a price?

By the way I have a supply of the 1S2588 and BA282 diodes required in SB-974 should anyone need them.
