Phil, thanks so much for this article - It will go in my TS440 archive. 
Excellent and clear, and reminded me of when I had to do this many moons ago 
on my TS440. Those little brass bubbles are tricky to keep in place! For 
adhesive, what do you think of using rubber cement? Would the solvent in it 
mess up the plastic membrane? It might be sticky enough to work even if 
allowed to dry thoroughly before reattaching the membrane.

Also, the general technique  should work fine for rescuing a large variety 
of equipment with the same type of keyboards - using the isopropyl alcohol 
and cotton swabs also works on keypads that have carbon contactors - our 
push-button phone in the kitchen has taught me this several times!
