[Kenwood] TS480 crossband repeat

Has anyone on the list used the crossband repeat
function on the TS480?  The TS480 manual shows that
you have to use the D700 for this, but I am wondering
if other radios will work as well.  The V708 is just
like a D700 without the TNC, will it work for
crossband repeat?  Or how about the G707?  The wiring
on the plug that is used to interface the FM rig with
the TS480 is the same on the D700 and the G707.
