[Kenwood] TS930 serial numbers

Others may agree or disagree but I've been advised that one looks for 
serial #'s above 4-million.  I have a 930S-AT that's just above that 
threshold and I haven't had any problems with it........period!  Well, 
except for having to periodically make some adjustments that are 
clearly spelled out in the service manual and well within the scope of 
a ham having access to a good voltmeter and a scope.

I've questioned the need for adding the PIEXX board and while that has 
many additional benefits, I've not chosen to use it.  However, that 
said, I'm sure others will comment on the how's and why's of the PIEXX 
and why it was probably needed on earlier rigs.  There is also a power 
supply mod on the 28v (I can't remember without looking it up) supply 
and it has merits.  Perhaps someone with better authority on the 
subject will interject.

I'm a Boatanchor guy myself and the only two "modern" rigs I own are 
the TS-930S-AT and an ICOM 706 MKII/DSP.  Neither see much use these 
days but my Collins, Johnson and Heath rigs are getting a workout.  Hi

Hope this is helpful or will at least spur some discussion.  I'd be 
interested in comments from others who know much better than I about 
the subject.

I do like the 930S though.   It's a good rig and has one hell of a Rx.
