[Kenwood] TN-732A

I had/still have a TM732A and it sat on the dash in the hot sun in my truck
from 1992 until 2004, 12+ years.  The first problem it had which I ignored
was a panel light failed (there are 2) and that was not until about 10
years.  The next thing that failed was that holding the memory button used
to cause it to scan the memories and it quit doing what it was supposed to
and would select memory mode but not scan.  The third thing was the transmit
would just quit, no output.  Turning it off and back on and it was fine (for
a while which became shorter over a year or so), full power out at all
times.  I was told the power out problem was a cracked lamination feeding
the final.  I had purchased a replacement by the time I found out and the
radio is now used as a scanner.  I kept it as I intend(ed) to fix it
(someday).

The 732 is one very fine radio and is very solid.  Mine ran full power for
over 12 years and many times in the sun was very hot just sitting there.  I
am not one to stay off of the mic either.

Make sure the fan on the radio works, then I would check my installation for
the cause of the problem if I were you (coax, antenna, etc).

Question about the Kenwood 2m/440 rig.

I have one and just replaced the power module for the second time two months
ago and it is gone again.

Was there a design flaw in the 732 because it was not out long when it was
replaced by the TM-733?

I like the rig but not the repair bill.
