The receiver on in my TS-405 has a very high noise level, especially
on 20 meters even with the antenna disconnected. I have done direct,
same antenna, tests comparing my IC-1500 wideband PC based receiver,
and the IC-1500 will copy SSB signals that are barely readable with
the TS-450.
Anyone familiar with this problem? I have read that static electricity
formed on longwire antennas can damage the front end when they are
connected without first discharging the charge.
