[Kenwood] TM-V7A - Preferred HT to Remote Control?

I am thinking of selling my Icom IC-W32A and
getting something a little smaller and really
rugged -- moisture and drop resistant.

What 5W 2/440 HT's are folks using, or do you
recommend, that are good for remote control of a
Kenwood TM-V7A, please?

I would mostly like to do crossband repeat for
disaster response and when inside large metal
buildings like Home Depot, etc.

Doesn't *have* to be a Kenwood HT.
