Hi Warren,

I had a similiar problem with my TS-680. In my unit, resistor R3, 10 KOhm,
on the Signal Unit board was missing (omitted at the factory). It was meant
to supply 'wetting' current to prevent oxidizing of the contacts of the
band-pass filter relays.

After installing it, the contacts cleaned up and things were back to
normal. The whole story was printed in Hints & Kinks in QST for Nov. / 2005,
p71.
