[Kenwood] D700 dim display

Here in the NE, mine does the opposite. In the extreme cold mornings, the display is very dark and washed out. Once the vehicle warms up, the display returns to normal. It's just the effects of extreme temps on the liquid in the LCD.  I sometimes adjust the contract to compensate, but most times it clears up quick enough.

You're talking about the actual contrast, and not the backlighting, correct? If it is just the backlighting, then you may have a voltage drop issue.
