I've had this problem for years...check the archive.

In short, RFI...RF feedback getting back into the rig through the MIC.  Fix for me was to bypass both the MIC+ and MIC- lines to the shield (chassis ground) with a .01uF cap.  Best place for this is at the connector to the radio.  As I use an adapter to allow all my mics to work with any rig, it was easy to just add the caps.  They can also be added (although a bit more difficult) to fit the 1/4" mic plug on the Heil headset...just use small 50v monolythic caps.

Just noticed that my Heil Proset w/ HC5 is giving me a horrible noise when in transmit on 20m.

I know Heil is not open today so I thought I would ask here.
