[Kenwood] TS-850 or TS-870

It would help everyone a great deal if you would tell us what kind of 
operating you do.  You are asking for a lot of information and to fully 
answer your questions would take a lot of time, especially for those of 
us who are not great typists hi hi.   If you would say what you want to 
do with your rig, i.e. chase dx, ragchew, contest, what mode or modes 
you operate, you will help focus us because for example, the 850 is 
hands down winner for AM, but the 870 is far and away better on ssb (in 
my opinion).  there's no one rig that is best; only what's best for you 
and that depends on what you want to do.
