[Kenwood] Hissie MC-44DM

My Kenwood Lollipop microphone (MC-44DM) has developed a hissie fit.
It hisses with white noise.
After many weeks of intermittence it finally went constant so i could 
trouble shoot it. i open it up and touched the mic element and all
the hiss went away. Solder connections look OK. Is it the ceramic disk bypass 
or the element ? My mic cartridge is just floating, not glued in place.
Has anyone ever seen this before?
