I had my fan motor fail but I was reluctant to strain the power
resistor/switch transistor with the extra power of a 12 volt boxer
fan. I was also somewhat concerned with how hot the rig got before the
fan came on. I used a 110 volt fan from Marlin P. Jones mounted to the
fan blade shroud plate and sticking thru the rear of the heat sink
cover. The fan is powered from the 100 volt tap on one side of the
power xfmr as Kenwood did with the TS-530. Quiets the fan a bit and
the rig is much cooler.

The fan is part #15940 FN. and I got a heat sink cover and fan plate
assembly off ebay so I could go back if I wished.

This fan can be mounted to the inside of the cover with 4 zip ties but
the vent slots outside the fan discharge will need to be covered to
force the air to be pulled across the sink.

FWIW, I would not change back if I had a new motor.
