[Kenwood] TH-G71 won't turn on

Barreries can "short out".  They will kill any power you are trying to put
in.  Most radios will run on the charger (receive mode) without the battery
long enough to try it and see if the battery is shorted and killing the
power.  Remove the battery and turn it on.  Easy and quick test.

Workie workie, battery problem.
Not, something else.
