[Kenwood] VFO repair needed

Just to elaborate on the problem, I bought the 230 to run with a
TS-830S.  When I turn on the VFO, I get no tuning response and the
digital readout displays goofy characters which do not change-no
frequencies are displayed.  The problem is the same on all bands.  It is
possible the problem lies with the connecting cable or perhaps the
transceiver interface.  Perhaps someone else has seen this problem
before.
