[Kenwood] MC45 DM mic problem

I have 2 TM-251 2m rigs and 2 TM451 UHF rigs each with a MC45DM mic

Some of the mics work intermittently.

Part of the time there is no audio out of the mic - pull the mic from the 
rig and reinsert it and it works fine.
It might work well for some time before this has to be done again.  A 
couple of the mics work fine all the time.

I tried cleaning the connectors and it didn't seem to make any 
difference.  I also replaced the connector on
the mic, thinking that pulling on the cord might have loosened the 
connection, but that also didn't seem
to fix the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem?  If so what is the fix.
