[Kenwood] TS-2000 Birdies

I have not purchased a TS-2000 yet.  But looking at the manual, it looks
like almost all the birdies are in the 70 cm segment.

Has anyone tried using an external transverter for 70cm to get around this
problem?  (i.e. Map 70cm down via an externally purchased transverter to
some HF frequency?)
