mike,

i'm unfamiliar with the 940 so i don't know how much room there is for 
the lamp and how it connects etc. but if it is possible, why not 
consider a LED replacement?   you can get a green one; they have 
varying intensities and best of all, you'll probably never have to 
replace this "lamp" again.  you can put a resistor in series with the 
LED to drop the v. down or if there is room, put in one of the 
LED/resistor assemblies that are available that run on 12 v.    I have 
seen them at Fry's and Radio Shack and i'm sure you can get something 
that will work from mouser, digikey etc.   you have to calculate how 
much R you need to drop the v. down to the LED voltage--there's even a 
website that does that for you.  if you are interested, let me know and 
i'll hunt around for it.
