[Kenwood] Re: Kenwood TM-V7A Display Lines - KENWOOD ABANDONED

Kenwood abandoned the TM-V7A LCD display 4 months
ago, shame on them.

Kenwood East will not share the typical cost to
perform a known simple repair on the V7A display.

They say you have to ship it to them and their
"target" is $100. and they will only call and
ask if *over $100." OR if you refuse you must
pay them $35. to do nothing *plus* return shipping.

So, since Kenwood will not provide a cost has
anyone gone the out-of-warranty-user-pays route
and if so what was the cost, please?

OR, does anyone know what is the cause of the
failure?

It is at least partially low-voltage related,
is it a bad cap or resistor or poor soldering?
