[Kenwood] TS-450 Problem: Receiver hears everything

HI,

I recently acquired a TS-450 in a trade and it has a problem with the receiver - it's as wide as a 
barn door.  In CW, I can tune either side of zero beat, and as I tune past a carrier I can hear the 
signal for at least 5KHz either side.  I have made a few QSO's, as long as I pay attention to which 
side of zero beat I tune.

At first, I thought there was a problem in the filter selection, but that seems OK.  The voltages 
from the serial/parallel chip are OK, and if I enable the non-existent accessory filters and switch 
to them, the receiver goes quiet.

I've got a service manual on the way, but wanted to know if anyone has had this problem before or 
has any suggestions.
