that's basically it. depending on the month you may be off by a
year--more of the number can be used in a formula to calculate the
month as I recall, but for the purposes of browsing a flea market, this
is close enough to tell if you are seeing a new one or an old one and
the first digit minus 2 = year is easy to remember.
