[Kenwood] Brightening Displays

First off, I'm no repair technician. What I am writing may or may not be applicable information for those wanting to brighten their displays.  I enjoy Pinball Machines some of which have multiple digit blue vacuum fluorescent displays. Over time the displays get dimmer and dimmer, there is a trick using a plain 9v battery to brighten the displays.  Look under Marvin3m.com under Gottlieb System 80 repairs under display problems and you can see the technique the Pinballers use.  I have no idea of the operating voltage on the Kenwood displays nor am I endorsing this technique for any Kenwood display but if the operating voltages are similar my guess is that it would work. If you are looking at an expensive or impossible replacement it would be worth looking the information up and perhaps a similar technique would work.
