[Kenwood] TS-940S LCD LED Replacement

Has anyone successfully replaced the green LED in the LCD display?  I read 
something somewhere indicating that an LED from Radio Shack is compatible 
but how do you get to the LED?  It appears that the LCD is an assembly with 
two screws at the top.  That is easy enough to get loose, but I do not see 
how to raise the assembly out of the radio so that I can get to the LEDs.
