"I have owned the 520, 530, 820, 830, 440, 450, 850, 870, and the 950SDX.
My operating history has involved DXing and rag-chewing, mostly on SSB, and
I have been particularly interested in receiver quality. My all-time
favorite has been the TS-850SAT. I have owned 3 of them and they have been
superior to any other radio I have owned, including the FT-1000D and the
FT-1000MP series. I rate them very subjectively by receiver quality,
receive audio, features, and ease of operation. Anyone else operating the
same equipment would probably arrive at a different conclusion, but I rate
the TS-850 as my all-time favorite."

I would agree completely with Joe. I think that the TS850 is STILL the
best "bang for buck" around. I have a 950SDX, an 850, an MP and an MP Field.
They're all fine rigs, but the 850 is as good as any. The TS 870 I found
very dissappointing. The 850 (with a few good INRAD filters) blows it away
in a contest, or a major pile up.... DSP (the bits we use) can be added with
an SGC, BHI,Clearspeech, Heil or what-have-you..
