My two '850's have the following...

Rig #1:
8.83MHz IF: Inrad 2.1K and Kenwood 500Hz
455KHz IF:  Inrad 2.1K

Rig #2:
8.83MHz IF: Inrad 2.1K and Inrad 400Hz
455KHz IF:  Inrad 400Hz

You can get a general idea of how they are setup, mode-wise.  Cascade the
filters and use slope tuning for narrower bandwidths, if necessary.  Though
I don't do much CW, I've tried and found the 270Hz filters a bit narrow.
The cascaded 400Hz + slope tuning works well, when needed. Cascaced 2.1KHz +
slope tuning (esp turning "up" the low-cut) works well for me during phone
contests.

I'd like to solicit opinions on how to make the best use of the three
available filter slots in the TS 850.  My interest is in CW contesting and
DXing, but I have never owned a SSB filter in my life.  Seems like the 1/2
punch of 500/250 Hz makes sense for CW, but which IF should the narrow
filter be installed in?  What would be the best combination for CW only and
for CW as the primary mode with one SSB filter?
