Hi Steve,

Maybe you are thinking about the very early ones? There is a kenwood service
bulletin and a page on www.mods.dk that tells you how to redistribute the
gain in the rf and maybe the early if stages by replacing a bunch of smd
components. The serial # break where this was implemented in production is
quoted as 801xxxxx. I have an early radio and did the mod, and some others.
Really seemed to help the rf operation of the rig. Hope this helps.

I am trying to find out the approximate ranges of the "late" TS-870S 
are?  Any help would be appreciated.  You can reply direct as I'm 
probably the only one who doesn't know this.
