I have seen many posts on the TS-850 display problem. I recently had to
repair mine.
The only 470uf 16v cap(C16) on the display board had started leaking. The
leakage had also eaten
away the plate through hole. I ended up replacing the cap with a "radio
shack" 470uf 35v
axial lead cap. It is slightly larger so I folded it over on its side and
hot melt glued it in place. I also repaired the missing circuit pad area
with wire wrap wire. As always use good soldering iron.
I use an ESD safe variable temp iron with 6 tips for this type of work.

Refer to the service manual for B38-0350-15 lcd display unit. Page 173 has
a schematic for the
display, however it does not show C16. Look at page 174 and you will find
the C16 cap.

Good luck and 73's KC2LXP
