[Kenwood] Ts 180s : Faulty Frequency Readout

Hi Guys,
    
    I have a lovely old Kenwood Ts 180s and it has recently developed a fault. When I turn it on a series of dots appear 

where there should be the frequency readout. No figures appear just the dots .  Before this happened I noticed for a few days 

when this problem started the dots would appear on certain bands ie no readout on 80m , 40m but 20m and 10m were fine.

It equally is not receiving when this happens.

Anybody got any ideas as to how to fix this problem ?? Where do I start ?? Has this fault developed for other Ts 180 s owners ??
