[Kenwood] TS-830s

Greetings 
My trusty old TS-830s has developed a fault which I sure hope is not
terminal.
When I change band EG from 80 mtrs to 20 mtrs The digital display
disappears as well as the audio. If I wiggle the band select switch the
display returns; however I still have no audio. While fiddling with the
band select switch I have noticed that it will come out slightly.
Can this fault be repaired by anyone with very limited skills (ME!!) and
if so how do I go about dealing with such a fault? or is it time to pack
it away to someone who has knowledge on such matters?
