I got hooked up with John through this reflector about 1.5 years ago.  I 
used my 940 for a paperweight for almost 3 yrs (too many sentimental 
reasons to dump it, and too many trips over $200 each to a nationwide 
ham chain in the midwest.  Took a chance on John after reading a few 
emails regarding his work ethic and technical prowess.  He resurrected 
my 940 to "better than new condition", replacing many components and 
parts, realignment, and installed some extras I picked up. (I didn't 
want to disturb the work on the digital boards he did).  I was amazed at 
the price and quality of the work.  I'm sure you'll be pleasantly 
surprised too. (when u need it) The 940 is John's rig of passion.  They 
are great radios, but lack many of the bells and whistles of the newer
