[Kenwood] TS-480SAT vs HX

Steve,
Shortly after getting your email I found a brochure on the 480 that I 
had lying around and you are correct. From the photos of the internals 
of both radios it would be more trouble than it would be worth. There 
are not (2) power amp boards as I had wrongly assumed. The HX has (2) 
100 watt amps on one common circuit board. The SAT has a 100 watt amp 
and an ATU on one common circuit board. That entire circuit board would 
have to be swapped out and, as you noted, most likely the firmware as 
well. Definitely not worth the trouble. So I will keep the SAT or sell 
it and get a HX. Now, if  there is someone out there that has a HX and 
wishes they had a SAT contact me and maybe we can work out a swap! 73
