>From AA9TC    kenwood 530s with Freq Display that would read band but not up date. Thanks to all that replied with suggestions.  It turned out to be dirty switch contacts on the external vfo selector switch which is on the back of the chassis. I dont have an external vfo and never touched the switch but apparently the counter input runs through the switch contacts.  Flipping the switch back and forth corrected the problem. Followed by some tuner cleaner for good measure. Now it works just fine.
