You can purchase a dual-purpose cable that does this or get just the bare 
plug/cable assembly and then assemble your own 12/6V regulator and RS232 
level converter.  Actually, the voltage levels from the GPSRX may already 
be RS232 compliant, so then you'd just need to wire up to txd,rxd, and 
gnd.

Garmin uses two types of physical connector dependent on the receiver's 
age.  My GPS12 uses the older, round connector.  The newer receivers have 
a small, inline connector I believe.

I bought a bare-ended cable/plug from Galyans several years ago.
