Thanks for suggestions of where to send my TS-850 to be repaired. I tried  my 
best. However I cannot deal with SMTs and multi-layer implanted trace  boards.
 
  The 850 is a classic. I am trying to duplicate it's rf speech proc  and 
twin PBT for other rigs.
 
   I do have to ask a worst case senerio question. Say my TS-850  is too 
damaged, just how bad is the TS-2000.
 
   I know the best IF DSP will never equal 2 stages of premium  crystal 
filtering. Would I be too horribly dismayed by the performance of the  TS-2000?
I know the 2000 speech proc is not a real RF/proc/clipper.
 
  Sure having all the bands in one box and the satel features are  nifty.
 
Whats your take on the a new 2000 vs a 10++ year old  ts-850
