Usually the CQ/DL reviews are very objective; unfortunately my knowledge of
the German language is very poor.
If you can add a few more words that will be wonderful.

I work in a ham radio store in Germany, we sell Yaesu, Icom and Kenwood.
Since the TS-480 has been introduced I have been playing with it casually
and
sold it to several customers.
>From my own little tests I was very impressed with the receiver and the
overall feel of the radio. The DSP is excellent. The Rx is comparable in
sensitivity and selectivity to large desktop rigs. From two customers whose
input I value I have heard excellent results. One uses it in RTTY contests
and really loves it.
The test in the German magazine cq/DL was very favorable in respect of
receiver figures, if you are interested I can post some of these figures
tomorrow evening.
All in all it's a very impressive rig with an excellent price/performance
ratio (after the prices have been lowered by 30% after introduction). I have
used an Icom IC-706MkII and G) in my car for many years now and love it. But
I think about replacing it with the TS-480, the HF rx outperforms the 706
easily, and I don't need VHF/UHF.
