[Kenwood] Comments on TM-V7A

Hart,

I own two of them and they work very well. Both are remoted and were
programmed via PC. The free programming software is available on
their web site. The only negative comment is in regard to the blue
display. It is great in the shack or in the mobile at night but not
in bright sunlight. If you can mount the head out of the sun it will
be easier to read.

Also, if you are buying an early serial number unit be aware that
Kenwood had a run of bad displays. Lines start to appear and
eventually obliterate all of the characters. I received my second
TM-V7A, with a low serial number, as a junker/parts donor because both
transmitters were nearly dead. I put my original head on the unit and
was able to repair the main radio. I contacted Kenwood about a
replacement display and gave them the serial number. They said it
would be replaced at no charge. I just had to pay the shipping to get
it to them, they paid the return shipping!
