 The AT-250 is not "auto-sensing". I have one connected to my TS-680.

 Unless you have the correctly wired interface cable going to radios such as
the TS-430/440/140/680, you will have to select the band manually. With the
proper interface cable, the AUTO band select position can be used. Either
way, you must activate the TUNE function manually, press to start, press to
stop.

 Also, if you don't have the interface cable, there's a connection that must
be made at the socket on the rear of the tuner. This is pointed out in the
manual.
