Hopefully, you will get someTS-850SAT-specific answers, but my guess is that
it will work well.
I ran my TS-950SD at around 5 watts CW for a couple of years; that was as
far down as it would go. And I ran my TS-430S at even lower power levels on
AMTOR for several years. No degradation in the quality of the signal if that
is what you are concerned about.
I'd say if you can turn the wick down that far, give it a try on the air.
